Place the sharpener on a flat steady platform. Push a button and turn a handle to open the sharpener. While holding the knife in one hand and the sharpener in another hand, move the blade along the surface of the stone with a gentle pressure. For rough sharpening use of seriously damaged knives with a blunt blade, use the first and the second slots.The third slot is used for the final stage of sharpening to eliminate burrs on the knife-edge and to provide a smooth, polished edge on the blade. The sharpener cannot be washed in a dishwasher or soaked in water. After using the sharpener wipe it with a cloth towel.
